A DIP IN A BLUE SEA
The blue of the limpid sea and the green of the pine forest that descends towards the beach are distinctive characteristics of this coastline. This beach area has earned the European Blue Flag award for years now thanks to the quality and liveable conditions of its beaches.
This large seaside area is completely secluded from traffic, while being in the middle of a town centre filled with colourful homes. These houses are clustered together and remind us of the ancient vocations of the fishermen villagers of Porto Recanati.
A FEW STEPS AWAY FROM HISTORY
In the central square of Porto Recanati, there is a medieval castle called Castello Svevo. Originally built to defend the town from pirates, the inhabitants lived within its walls. In the large courtyard, there is an arena that was named after the tenor from Recanati, Beniamino Gigli. During the summer, this arena becomes the perfect setting for many cultural events.
A few steps away from the city centre, there is an archaeological site where many findings have helped to bring the ancient Roman city of Potentia back to life. Evidence that Porto Recanati was, originally, a Roman colony.
Porto Recanati is also known to have hosted the Holy House of Mary in the Scossicci area during the journey that took it to Loreto, In memory of this event, the small church of Banderuola was built.
